I’m 16 and my best friend just moved to New Zealand. I live in Maine with my parents and have a part time job baby-sitting, but I don’t want my parents to pay for my long distance calls. Which is the best, cheapest way to call long-distance? Should I just get one of those long-distance calling cards? Will this show up on my parents bill at all? I don’t want my parents to pay at all or for this to show up on the bill. Thanks.
Chosen Answer:
your friend is in new zeal and you are in usa. you can use skype unlimited country package.
for only €3.95/month. this is the best offer. unlimited calls for unlimited time. what else you want in such a small amount. keep in mind that its PC to Landline package. for more details see the link. there are more packages , like skype unlimited world and skype pay per phone , but what i recommend is skype unlimited country package , its best for you. see the link below.

I have a cell phone that is on a contract plan. There is a person that I let use my phone and whenever she uses it she dials the numbers on the back of a prepaid minute card and then she makes her call. I do not know how these cards work. By her using the card, am I still being charged for her calls. I tried to go on the website of the card but they have this weird loop that prevents you from actually emailing them. I can’t call them because I don’t have enough minutes on my phone and I don’t want to go over my minutes (my parents pay for the phone). Can someone help me out. If I need to give more details for u to help, I can.

Online Calling Card: How It Works
Are you tired of searching for a payphone? An online calling card may be the answer to all of your calling needs. Learn how an online calling card works and see if it is right for you. First, you must know that an online calling card is not the same as a calling card provided by your local or long distance phone company. An online calling card is paid for before you make any calls.
With the online calling card you know exactly what you are spending and you will not accidentally go over on your minutes as you are talking. Your online calling card works by purchasing a specific dollar amount of long distance phone service. You will get an access phone number and a (PIN) personal identification number. If you purchase an online calling card online you may not get a card at all. Instead you will get the access phone number and the PIN.
How To Use The Online Calling Card
You will enter the toll-free access number to make your long distance call. You will be asked to enter the PIN then the phone number you want to call. You are able to check and see how many minutes are left on the card. A recorded message indicated what is left on the card each time you use your card.
When the card is almost used up you will receive a warning message during your phone call when you have only one minute of talk time left on the card. You will be disconnected when you use up the prepaid value. The price of an online calling card is usually competitive to the rates you would receive with a long distance carrier. But many online calling cards have a cheaper international rate than you get with a basic rate long distance plan.
Online calling cards are great as a gift to other people. Encourage a family member to call more often by buying them a prepaid online calling card. They are great for college students who parents pay the phone bill. They know up front how much they are going to spend for long distance calls. Prepaid online calling cards are also good for people who travel because you don’t have to pay with change at a phone booth, or pay high hotel phone rates. Weigh your options and decide if you will benefit from an online calling card. It may be a great benefit to you.

Question by pumpkin pie: If i call someone from other country, using my international card, would it appear on my phone account?
I dont want to let my parents know im doing this. So if i do, will my parents know if they look into my phone account? Would this be listed as “this date, this time, called to mexico…” something like that? And i dont want them to know i have an international card either. Would that also be listed? I know nothing about these stuffs so please help me out ! thanks.

Your phone bill would still list the number called, when you made the call, and the duration of the call. Your time using the cell phone would be charged against your minutes, but the country to country fees would be charged to your international card. So if your parents checked to see why your cell phone did not incur extra charges for an out of country call, they would find out you have an international card.
