Question by Jessica: Does using a calling card cancel out charges for the person recieving the call, or just the caller?
If I’m recieving a long distance call, and the person calling uses a phone card to call, can I still be charged?

I plan on recieving calls from Ontario, Canada, to California. My phone plan is with AT&T/Cingular, if that matters.

you will be billed “airtime” or “minutes”, if your phone you’ll be receiving the call is on a cell phone. if it’s a land line, or something that does not charge per minute, then you won’t be billed for anything. other than that, you won’t incurr any long distance charges or anything. only the person making the phone call is responsible for “paying”.

I highly recommend the COSTCO international phone card. It does not expire, there is no maintenance fee nor is there any connection charges. Plus you can recharge the card and re-use it. ( the only surcharge is when you use a pay phone)

If you call ‘mobiles’ overseas you’ll always get screwed. ~
Try to call land lines only.
I have a VoIP phone with free calling to 21 countries. But to cells in those countries the charge can be over 30 Cents/min.
